Coming Soon To A Season Near You

Coming Soon to a season near you! That’s right! It’s the color green! Always a crowd pleaser, green is the most asked for color in Spring, that busy little season that pokes its head out behind Winters gray, wind-stained skirts and says “Hey! whatchew doin’ ? How ’bout a little green?”

It’s been months now of cold blustery weather, grey skies, and bitter cold, and according to a random sample from over three of our neighbors, everyone is pretty darn tired of it. “Where’s the green?” is heard in sometimes strident voices. “Where’s the warm weather? I gotta fish!” is another. “When can we go out in skimpy clothing?” is one we hear from the college set. That doesn’t have much to do with green but we heard it said anyway, so we’re going to repeat it in the hopes that it happens sometime soon.

Since there has been interest in the color green mentioned we went back through our files and found this particular shade of green. Well several shades in fact, and decided to put it up today for your enjoyment and gratification. No need to thank us, this is a public service we provide for our viewing public at absolutely no charge to you. Yes, I know, It IS kind hearted but then look who you’re dealing with here. Nothing is too good for our readers. So enjoy and seeya soon.

50 Shades Of Green

50Shadesof Green2246

We have been getting lots of requests for the color green lately. Post cards, letters, notes tied to rocks and flung over our fence, so I just want you to know that OK already, we got the message.

I don’t know if it’s because summers over and people just weren’t ready for it or what, but if you want green we’ll give you green. A lot of people earlier in the year wanted grey. 50 shades of it. I don’t know why. Grey is like the second most boring color there is but they were clamoring for it. So they got grey.

We’re here to please after all and so here you go. Our color checkers have gone over this image with a fine tooth comb and have located at least 50 shades of green for you. I don’t know the significance of the number 50 but as ‘The Shadow’ used to say “Who knows the weirdness that lies in the hearts and minds of men..” and I presume women as well.

Enjoy, and remember, Keep those cards and letters coming in, we’ll do our best to satisfy any of your bizarro cravings. But lay off the rocks, you’re going to put somebodies’ eye out.

Summer Memories

Todays image is brought to you in part by the color green. Green is a color most closely associated with summer, that season that seems an impossible distance away. Here we are just a smidgen past the deepest darkest days of winter with the predominant colors being white, many shades of white, a full spectrum of greys, the blackest black of the longest nights and the occasional flash of color which is usually the fleshy tan of a torn Wal-Mart bag caught on the barbwire fence on the way into  town.

Now unless you are one of those many children who were dropped on their heads in the nursery by that sleepy nurse you may find this depressing. Those, the dropped ones, probably revel in all this cold and wind and discomfort. To them I say, “Excuse me, but shut the hell up about the wonders of winter, you crazy person. Don’t you know you are deranged.” I try to do this with respect of course, trying  to take into account the many different souls we have to share this existence with.

Not being one of those unfortunates I am able to get through this time of the year fairly well. I do this by visiting those green, green days of summer by spending way too much time in the summer portion of my portfolio. There I slowly go through hundreds of images of summer, leaving them up on my screen until they begin to burn themselves permanently onto the surface of my monitor. I think green thoughts as I sip a cool glass of iced Jasmine tea and remember when I took this picture, while outside the cold grey day slowly passes.

Outside it still nearly dark but you can see the faint glimmer of the new day starting. On good days the sunrise will cast its colors onto the slightly stained, off-white of last weeks snow and the world is beautiful again, if only for a few minutes. But today the wind is blowing all the color out of the morning so our color of the day outside will be grey. That would also be the color of the day yesterday and I am beginning to suspect, tomorrow. Inside however it’s another story. Inside it will be a bright sun-shiny day filled with the color green splashing its merry self all over every monitor I have on. Think Spring and perhaps it will happen.
